Futsal Festival - January 2026 (Indoor / Aircon) Futsal Academy organized by HHFA

We would like to share an important update regarding training for the month of January.

Because of the annual burning season and poor air quality this time of year, and since outdoor football pitches aren’t available, all January training will temporarily move to the Arena indoor futsal pitch. This allows our players to train indoors, in air-conditioned facilities, providing a safer and more comfortable environment for their health and well-being.

Because the futsal pitch is smaller than our outdoor field, we will not be able to train all players at the same time. Training groups will therefore be split into adjusted time slots during January.

Each session will be structured into two clear parts. The first part will focus on functional strength and movement, working on mobility, agility, balance, coordination, and overall body control. The second part will focus on futsal-specific technical training, developing close control, speed of play, decision-making, and skills that translate directly back to the football pitch.

We understand that changes can be inconvenient, but this decision is made with the players’ best interests in mind. We kindly ask for the cooperation and flexibility of our HHFA parent community as we adapt together during this period. Any updates or adjustments will always be communicated clearly and in advance.

Changes to training days (Wed - Thursday)

Since we only have access to the futsal pitch starting from 6:00 PM on Wednesdays (5pm on other days). We understand that this is too late for our youngest players, and after reviewing the situation, we have decided to adjust the training days to ensure sessions remain suitable for all age groups.

Because of this change, some players may only be able to attend two training sessions per week during January. To support our families during this adjustment period, we will offer free access to friendly matches and match days when we return to outdoor matches, at no additional cost.

This decision is made to keep training appropriate, safe, and fair for all players, especially our younger age groups. We truly appreciate your understanding, flexibility, and continued support as we navigate these temporary changes together.

Thank you for being part of the HHFA community.

Football & Futsal Why Futsal Matters for Player Development

Football and futsal complement each other in player development. Football teaches players how to understand space, positioning, team structure, and physical demands over a larger pitch. Futsal, played in a smaller and faster environment, accelerates technical and cognitive development by forcing players to make quicker decisions, control the ball in tight spaces, and stay constantly involved in the game.

These skills translate directly back to football.

Two well-known examples clearly show this pathway:

Lionel Messi

Messi played futsal extensively as a child in Argentina before joining FC Barcelona.
His close control, balance, quick changes of direction, and ability to operate in tight spaces are widely recognised as futsal-influenced traits.

Neymar Jr.

Neymar has repeatedly stated that futsal played a major role in developing his creativity, confidence, and technical ability. His quick footwork, flair, improvisation, and comfort under pressure are classic futsal characteristics.

Many top academies and federations, including FIFA, UEFA, and national youth programs, actively recommend futsal as a developmental tool for young players. It is not a replacement for football, but a powerful addition that helps players become more confident, technically secure, and composed when they return to the full pitch.

This is why futsal is an important part of our January training focus.
